Kayak for Kids
Since the year 2000, a group of water sports enthusiasts have helped raise funds for the Queen Louise Home by participating in the annual Kayak for Kids event.
On the day of the event, participants gather at Cane Bay on the north shore of St. Croix. They launch from Cane Bay and paddle around the western end of the island to Butler Bay where everyone comes ashore for a rest stop. The kayak run ends at the Fort Frederik beach, just outside of Frederiksted. There the children from Queen Louise Home greet the kayakers and everyone enjoys a picnic on the beach.
The participation fee is $50 per person but most of the kayakers raise much more from friends, colleagues and local businesses. In 2009, one kayaker raised close to $4,000 by herself.
Kayak for kids is open to participants of all ages and is a great outing for a family. You don't have to be a kayaker to support this event. Donations can be made to support Kayak for Kids on this website or by sending your contribution to
