Kayak for the Queen, September 5, 2010

All friends of Lutheran Social Services have a special opportunity to support the organization when you sponsor a solo kayak run around the island of St. Croix.  Volunteer Dan Harris plans to paddle the 65 miles around the big island on Sunday, September 5.  He will leave Rainbow Beach at 1:00 am and plan to arrive back at Rainbow at 5:00 pm.  Dan has arranged for several safety boats to monitor his progress and help ensure that all goes well during the 16 hour outing.

Dan was inspired to undertake this adventure after participating in the regular Kayak for Kids event which occurs each June.  He decided to call his effort Kayak for the Queen in honor of the Queen Louise Home for Children which will receive the proceeds of Dan's fund raising efforts.

If you would like to support Dan and Queen Louise Home, you can donate via this website.  Simply click "Donate".  When the page opens, you can either download the donation form, complete it and mail it with your gift to the office.  Or, you can donate online as provided.  To ensure that your support is correctly credited, we ask that you use the fax line to indicate: Kayak for the Queen.

Thank you for your support.
